About the Event

An evening of Contemporary and Traditional Irish music is a music event for the whole family. It includes performances by singer/songwriter Bridie Fitzgerald and her ensemble of Perth`s finest Irish musicians, featuring musician Martin Montgomery (Bodhran: Irish drum) and Sarah Jacks (harpist). During the evening you will hear beautiful Irish songs, some sung in Gaelic and arrangements of songs you know such as this music of David Bowie, Britnney Spears and the Beatles performed with a unique Irish feel. Bridie will also perform music from her fourth studio album: ‘I am changing’.

“Wow what an interesting show, congrats on your sold out show this year, there was something for everyone, Bridie`s voice is a pure joy to listen to, love those Irish musicians too”
FRINGEFEED (2024)

Australian Irish, singer/song writer Bridie Fitzgerald is a Contemporary musician who specialises in the performance of Contemporary Irish music.

In 2014 Bridie`s first album ‘All of me’ was released. The success of this album resulted in Bridie supporting ARIA award winner Josh Pyke on his ‘Beginning and the end of everything’ tour. Bridie`s Irish roots has inspired her to write many original songs for the Contemporary Irish music scene.

Bridie is a talented vocalist who can sing in both English and Gaelic (Irish), despite the fact she had no exposure to Irish language whilst residing in Perth. Bridie is passionate about sharing the beauty of Gaelic song with her audience and creates many original songs which are translated into Gaelic. Furthermore, Bridie is an arranger and has created many Contemporary arrangements of well-known Traditional Irish music songs for her ensemble.

In 2021 Bridie released the song ‘Ireland home’, the song shares the despair she felt when she was unable to travel to Ireland due to the Covid Pandemic in 2020. This song is one of several songs recorded in Gaelic available on Bridie`s second album ‘You don`t know what you`re waiting for’. Within a month of the release of this album Bridie had thousands of online followers around the world and the album was featured on the Eclectic Celt`s show in County Limerick, Ireland. In 2023 Bridie`s third Contemporary music album Beautiful Place was recorded at RADA studio in Fremantle. The album includes Bridie`s stunning arrangement of Enya`s song ‘Deora ar mo chroi’, as well as an Irish take on Guns n’ Roses song ‘Sweet Child of Mine’. The breathtaking single from the album Beautiful Place contains a verse sung in Gaelic by Bridie. The translation of the lyrics of this song concerns Bridie`s yearning to one day visit the birthplace of her family, the beautiful place that is known as Ireland that she is yet to see.
